When you live in an age where the most powerful man on the planet can dismiss entire journalistic organisations as “fake news”, where malevolent activists can use social media to influence a distracted population, and where the boundary between fact and satire is so fluid that some can’t tell the difference anymore, it’s good to have somewhere independent to turn to.

Snopes was begun some time ago as a means of debunking urban legends and has gradually evolved into the world’s go to fact-checking service.

If the world checked its facts more, it would be a lot less messed up than it is.
